RISK ASSESSMENTS / HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

Businesses are, by law, to carry out Risk Assessments on their premises, If they employ 5 ir more employees they are also required to have a Health and Safety Policy in Place. ESTA can come to your premises and help you get these in place. Please contact us for more details

Fish Frier Skills and Customer Service Skills

These qualifications have been developed by Seafish in conjunction with the National Federation of Fish Friers and is based on workbooks that candidates work through followed by an independent assessment in the workplace by a Seafish Assessor.

NFFF - 3 day Fish Frier Course

This is an ideal training course covering the basics of operating a Fish and Chip Shop effectively. It includes practical sessions on preparation and cooking of fish and chips as well as looking at Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and cost effective use of resources.

The course is held at the headquarters of the National Federation of Fish Friers in Leeds.

We have worked closely with previous regional and national winners of the competition. We can offer advice and guidance on shops considering entering the competition. Please contact us for more details.

Seafish Quality Award

Seafish offer Quality Awards for Fish Friers. This involves an assessment of your business to show you meet the requirements for the Quality Award. Award holders display the award in their premises and usually also achieve local publicity by achieving the award.

This can lead to:

  1. Better standards within your business
  2. More Profit and less waste
  3. Better motivated staff
  4. Improved Sales

Eastern Seafish Training Association provide guidance and support to help you through the process. We will come and do an audit of your premises and advise you on any work that may be needed to achieve the award

Food Hygiene Training

  • Level Two Award in Food Safety in Catering, Retail or Manufacturing (Replaces Basic or Foundation Food Hygiene) Nationally recognised catering qualification

Courses: June 2010 Caister on Sea; July 2010 Peterborough

  • Level Two Food Hygiene for Fish and Chip Shops. If you have a group of staff who need food hygiene training we offer a half day, shortened version of the course above, tailored to the requirements of your business. Candidates take a multiple choice test at the end of the course and are issued with an "Eastern Seafish Training Assoociation" certificate
  • Level 3 Food Safety (previously Intermediate Food Hygiene) courses can be accessed through Eastern Seafish Training Association (ESTA) either delivered by ESTA or through a local training provider. These are ideal for Managers and Supervisors
  • HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) We offer a one day Level 2 course and a 3 day Level 3 course.

First Aid

  • Emergency First Aid is available as a half day or full day course
  • Appointed Persons course is an extended Emergency First Aid course in line with HSE guidelines
  • First Aid at Work Certificate is the HSE approved three day course for First Aiders in the workplace
  • First Aid at Work Refresher training is a one day refresher course that holders of the First Aid at Work Certificate are required to do every year after being awarded the First Aid at Work Certificate
